Bottle Jaw

This buck that we have has been so sickly.  He was a gift.  I could have picked out a healthy buck, but I felt sorry for him and thought maybe we could help him.  Now he has bottle jaw.  I read up on it a bit and it can be caused by parasites, and mineral defficiency.  They suggested I give him Red Cell, a horse nutrient.  I have wormed the poor guy five times already with different wormers.  I'll try again.  He is getting healthier, but...  I guess this is a good experience.  Last time I had goats, I never had anything go wrong except a mild case of mastitis.  Now I'm learning. :)  Anyone else had any experience with this?  Thanks.

We have had great success giving kelp ad lib to all of our animals to help balance minerals. They eat it like it's candy. We also give dolomitic limestone powder with copper sulfate in about a 10 to 1 ratio ad lib We leaned this from Pat Coleby of Natural Goat Care. She is a strong advocate for mineral balancing and is adamate that worms and parasites are caused by a copper deficiency (she provides studies to back her up). It was very strange the first time we put the dolomite and copper out for the goats years ago, but they ate it and they look so much better when they are on it. Their coats and shiny and healthy and they don't get worms. Hope your goat gets better!
