Today...

Today-I was going to tell you about all of the ugliness that the melting snow had revealed in my yard...

 I woke up to this...

It takes care of the ugly.
So, today-I finished doing my taxes!!!! And celebrated by downing a bag of Doritoes.

Today- I will practice my dulcimer-
Today- I started collecting eggs for the incubator.

Today-I'll grab a cup of coffee and a good movie and not feel guilty about it.

And that's it for today.   Hope your today is blessed.

Back With Pictures

So I thought the weather was bad here at home.  Up the road about 20 miles, where we had the animal swap, it was even nastier.
The parking lot which should be full of people admiring animals.  Not so much. :)
A few of my roosters wondering why I don't close the door.

There were some out in the lot, huddled together admiring goats.
This little doeling found herself in the town hall. She's so relaxed and warm, she's falling asleep.
We ended up with rabbits, duckings, dogs and goats inside.  The chickens, sheep and horses stayed out.  No pigs or laying hens this year, and of course, that's what everyone was looking for.

There are animals swaps scheduled for the next two weekends at other locations.  I think I may try and get rid of my roosters again.

I did spend most of my time inside, drinking coffee and eating caramel rolls.  It's a good day for it.

Wonderment

I so seldom use the word I had to look it up to make sure it existed.  What has happened to me?
Remember when you'd see the first snow and beg Mom to let  you go outside?  The knowing that Christmas wasn't far off once the snow stayed on the ground.  So how do you feel now when you see that snow coming?
The snow is here and I look out my window with trepidation, not wonderment. When did I change?  I want my wonderment back.  I want to wake up every morning and look forward to all that the new day has to offer.  Jump out of bed and be in love with life.
Lord this is my prayer.  Make me excited about all that You have planned for me.

Make it stop!

It's STILL snowing!  Honey spent half the day on Saturday just clearing snow and now it's snowing some more.  I keep telling myself that it's good fertilizer and come this spring we'll have a great planting season, but with this much snow, we might not see the soil until summer. On the bright side, we got to dust off the snowshoes.  Who am I kidding?  We dusted them, in case of emergency, but we haven't used them.  We just opt not to go and walk in the woods or the fields.   Even our dog won't go out into the great beyond.
Snow is a blessing.  It's one of the most beautiful winters I've ever seen.  It keeps the critters in the barn and the cattle in the feedlot.  It keeps the perennials protected and should bring forth a bumper crop of garlic this spring.
Let it snow.
