You want goats??????

I DO love goats.  I DO, I DO, I DO.  If they weren't so cute...

I allow my goats to roam the yard.  The pen we put up is just too hard to move around.  It wasn't bad at first.  They left my daffodils alone.  They like to sunbathe on the front porch, but that's a good conversation starter when company drops by.  Then I put my herbs out to prepare them for planting.  I stuck them on the porch behind the barbeque.  That didn't stop them.  They sure like thyme and lemon basil!  Went back for seconds.  The peas were up.  Were.  Those must have been pretty tasty, also.  I exagerate.  They didn't get all of them.  I put up the goat pen around the garden and put my potted herbs in it.  Problem solved.  Poor things must of got bored, next thing you know they're eating the ground wire for the electric coming into the house.  Maybe I don't give them enough mineral.  Found them chewing the phone line, which has kept me from blogging for a couple days.  I got the orange wire on the yellow wire and the striped wire on the black wire, (of course), after only the 48th try and two runs to the hardware store.  I now have a dial tone.  Goats are cute.  I think I'll go let them out of the shed so they can start a new adventure.

We had goats. Our fence was just an electric fence for the pony. It used to have a low strand for the goats, but you know, they learned how to jump through. A real goat fence we did not have. I know a lot of people stake their goats out during the day, to eat where YOU want them to!

Happy Saturday my friend! It seems like I "missed" you this week, I hope you have had a great one! We've been fisishing up school, working on the yard and excitedly enjoying the knowledge that we'll homeschool Madi this time! The kittens are growing, and we've found 4 homes! How are you and yours?

and are in the process of getting a couple - maybe more.

2dd15 has wanted them for a year now, and when we presented the thought that they would be great lawn-mowers, My Sweetie finally decided that goats are in our plans!

So, we have a 30x70 barn and 2dd15 already cleaned out the bottom stalls, and we are getting a 5 ft. fence. We already plan to go ahead and scatter seeds in their area, so they can get other tastes, like herbs, flowers, etc... but, we will be staking them to 'mow' around our little 2 1/2 acres.

Thanks for adding me as a friend, I plan to read here and get some good goat ideas - or at least, good stories!

We went to a local goat fram last week and DD3yo cried because we weren't bringing one home. I nearly cried too and later she kept asking Daddy if he likes goats too. She still is after him, but he's not budging, yet anyway.
