The Dehydrator's Bible

My mom bought me this book.  At first, I wasn't all that excited, but then I opened it.

It tells you how to dehydrate everything!!  Well, not everything.  But since I discovered dehydrating last year, and everything tasted so good, I'm doing even more of it this year.  This book tells you how to put your dehydrated foods together to  make meals.  It even  has camping menus so you can bring with some pretty fancy dehydrated feasts.  Anyways, just thought I'd give the heads up if anyone wanted to do some serious dehydrating.  I might have to get me a bigger dehydrator now!

Thanks for sharing this. I've been drying zucchini and squash lately and have some celery waiting to go in as well.

I've a similar book I picked up quite a few years ago. My 2 dehydrators have been doing some serious overtime the past few weeks. Last week was sweet corn and green beans, and like you, this week it's zucchini and summer squash. Peaches just went on sale here so will be doing them next.

Have fun! Michele

Hi Rhonda! :)

The tomatoes I have been canning and now have canned were bought from another ranch nearer to town. My little greenhouse is full of tomatoes but I don't think it is big enough for that many.

I use to dry apples, and some wild fungus that grows on trees, and make jerky (from deer meat or moose meat) I strung the apples and fungus on strings above the wood cookstove and the jerky I made I just put small green branches across the inside of the oven with the strips of meat on it and the oven door open and made many many buckets full. Now I mostly just dry herbs. Have from with your food dryer. We had a very light frost this morning. It is a wee bit warmer these last couple days so it is quite nice. Love to you Roxanne

Now this sounds cool. I have a dehydrator but haven't used it in years...maybe time to rethink things:-)

Good Morning Rhonda!

Our family loves the pinwheels anytime of the day but breakfast is great for me as it is simple and everyone loves them. Hey you can put anything in them if you want you can sprinkle cheese on them or cheese and salsa or oh my the list is only limited by your imagination. They are a staple around here. Easy to grab for a snack or breakfast or lunch or a go together with some meal or other.

It is below the freezing point here this morning but I am thinking cause it is so clear that it will most likely be a beautiful Autumn day. You have a wonderful day. Lots of love Roxanne
