Flood of 2012

We are actually having flood conditions here.  Amazing.  We are always blessed with rain, but it's getting a bit over zealous.  Roads are closed south, east and west of us.  Basements are flooding-ours was but my man rigged up a better sump pump and now the water is gone!  We went out and took some pictures to share with you.
This is our road just north of our house.
Here is a poor picture of some guys sandbagging along the riverbank in town.  The police weren't letting anyone stop to take pictures so this was taken on the run. :)
Here's where the river is going over the highway.  Those are tree tops sticking out of the water.

One of the side roads off of the highway.
Ya think?

So there are pictures of my very first flood.
I did go out and sandbag in Fargo a couple of years ago...now there was a massive flood.

More rain today, but sunny tomorrow.  I'm going to go and get a look at what's in my garden.  About half of it was underwater yesterday.

Be blessed.

Oh, you do have it worse than us! So sorry to see the storm damage. Hope you can keep the house dry and are able to salvage the garden. It sure seems like it's feast or famine, doesn't it?

guess I should quit complaining about the 100+ degree temps in Califonia, but if you find a way send some of that rain westward.

Oh my! I found you through Mama Pea. I'm complaining about not enough rain but I don't need THAT much! Hope you stay safe.

Mama Pea-So how much rain did you end up with? Our highways are still closed but the water level in the pastures has been going down.
Tombstone Livestock-Thanks for stopping by. Are you still raising Angora goats?

Fullfreezer-I think the rains are done for awhile. Time to wring everything out and dry up.

Both the northern and southern ends of the state have been hit so hard with flooding. My friend in Missouri says they are experiencing drought conditions. I still say it has to do with that dumb nuclear thing in Japan effecting our atmosphere. I'm here in the center of the state and my poor garden is struggling to survive the rain, storms, and wind. Praying all of our gardens are productive despite the weather!

Odiie - Do you know, I never did hear an accurate measurement of how much rain we got. South of us, where the most damage was, got 10" so I know we didn't get that much. Our country is so large and has much different types of terrain so we often get more snow/rain in one spot or another. Our daughter is an hour (driving time) north of us and she didn't get nearly as much rain as we did. But then she's on a high ridge so what did fall tended to run right off rather than standing as it did here. I think we'll all be glad to see lots of sunshine for a while!
