A "Christian" Lock In?

This is another one of those "am I the only one?", moments.  The local church, where our girls go to youth group, is having a "lock in".  This involves games, snacks, a movie, I think, but I don't know if it involves much in the way of spiritual lessons or encouragement.  It will be chaperoned, but it's a boy/girl thing where they stay up all night.  Does this seem like an edifying thing?  Am I just a stick in the mud, who doesn't let my kids have any fun?  No one else seems to give it a second thought.  There are sincere Christian youth in this youth group and born again Christian leaders who plan this.  I just thought I'd get a second opinion.  If I'm being too strict or too???I'd like to know.  I haven't said no and my girls want to go so badly.  All of their Christian friends will be there.  How hard is it to say no?  Very.

Any ideas or scripture to guide me?

Hey there...

There are a couple things I would check out before saying yes... 1 is it one big room with no dark corners and will the lights stay on during the movie? How many chaperons are there and who are they, and are they young kids themselves or older folks?

I dont think being concerned is being to strict...God gave us gut feelings for a reason... if yours is saying this isnt good then listen to it... but if you arent getting that strong no way feeling, and you trust the folks that are putting it on.. then I would probably go ahead and let them do it... Good luck sure hard being mom sometimes isnt it?

My son wants to go to one this Friday, but my daughter doesn't care to go. Personally, I think there are lots worse things for kids to be involved in and this allows kids time for fellowship with each other. As long as the leadership are truly looking out for them and make the focus the Lord I think it is okay for our kids anyway. Only God can give you the direction for yours. jill

God gave us mom's that 'funny feeling' for a reason. Go with what the Spirit is telling you.

I know I'm late...But I hope you feel comfortable in whatever decision you made. I do believe if you had all the facts as the other poster commented you would 'know' what needed to be done. And by the way I do appreciate your friendship and your family is being prayed for (even your donkey's...tell us more about them and why they're you favorite). Have a

'relaxing' weekend (for a mother I mean...lol)

Sincerely, Brenda
