First Hunt

It's deer hunting season here in Minnesota. Since my honey is out in Wyoming,(and since he doesn't hunt), a fella from church showed up this morning to take my son on his first hunting "excursion". It's not a "trip" because they'll stay on our property. I'm praying that my son has a fine time, but more than that I'd like to see this fella bag a deer. He's been hunting most of the season and still nothing.

I never used to care for venison, and honestly, it's still not my favorite meat, but I can fix it so it's tolerable, even tasty if I can it. I'm not going to refuse fresh venison anymore, it's now a blessing.
So I pray for safety, and two or three nice sized deer for these guys.
Oh BTW, I don't hunt either. :)

Hey there Rhonda I was so happy to hear from you We spent yesterday sorting cows and calves to ship PTL that is doen because today although a beautiful sunny day with snow laden trees it is below zero and yesterday was same kind of weather but above zero.

I am really excited to read what you have to say about your grandmother(s). I love grandmothers.

Hey I do like venison but moose meat is my favourite any day over any meat except maybe buffalo!? Maybe. I LOVE moose meat. Well here is hoping and praying the fellas have a great day hunting and bag something too. I always find sitting on one of their trails and waiting patiently is the easiest! Love to you and God Bless Have to get ready for work Roxanne

Hi Rhonda,

Nice to hear from you. Did they get any deer? I agree with you, venison is not my favorite meat and is best when canned. Although, our deer are corn fed around here so we don't get the "wild-grassy" flavor I remember as a kid when my dad used to hunt in northern MN.
