Bits and Pieces

We're getting a bit of winter, crisp and cold this morning.  The sun is deceiving-so bright and warm coming in through the living room window and still the temp is a balmy -10 outside.

I finished my shawl!  From this-

To this-
It took me almost a year, but it's done.  Next project?? :)

Do you do Pinterest?  I don't, but a friend does and she found these great hearts to make for Valentine's at http://www.bluevelvetchair.blogspot.com/2012/01/forest-glam-diy-valentines-day.html .  We have these red bushes all over around here, we call them red Dogwood.  Anyways, here's a picture of what I worked on last night for the Valentine's dinner at the church.

I think I'll use these hearts for decoration all year. I like the way they turned out.

Enough show and tell.

I hope your days are getting longer and the promise of spring has brought it's enthusiasm to your home.

A Contest for Felters and Spinners

I'm going to have a contest.  I've been trying to think up some clever new way to do this, but-clever, I'm not.  So this contest is pretty simple.  Comment on this blog to get your name into the drawing once.  Blog about the contest to get your name in a second time.  I don't have Facebook and I don't Twitter so I guess I can't do that.
Anyways, the prize???
It's a kind of specialized thing and probably not appreciated by a lot of people--
Remember Darcy from the last post?  Well, this is her fall shearing and it weighs in at about 2 1/2 pounds.  This mohair is skirted, but not washed.
So that's it.  I'll draw the name next Monday.   :o)

Yarn Design

I've been trying to use up my stored fiber as it will soon be shearing time again and I have such backlog.  I started carding some white mohair today.

I had some blue mohair that I had carded and dyed.

Here's the  yarn it made.  Kinda pretty, I think.

Then I thought, wouldn't it be pretty to put the blue and the white mohair together.

There's still a bit of debris in it.  And here's the finished yarn.

I think that I like this better than the plain blue.  I'll call it clouds in a blue sky. :)
