I signed up for the e-mail notification and am excited about an online beekeeping class that they're going to offer. I need all the help I can get when it comes to my bees. This will only be my second year with them.
I thought I'd just pass along the heads up. Anyone else out there into bees?
2 cups fresh dandelion greens, washed, drained, stemmed
2 eggs
1 T olive oil
1/2 t salt
11/2 cups flour
Combine dandelion greens, eggs, oil, and salt in a blender until smooth. Transfer to a bowl and gradually add flour, stirring until a dough forms. Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead for two minutes. Roll out 1/8 " thick and dry 1 hour before cutting into noodles. Cook in boiling water for about 3 minutes.

I like the noodles with melted butter, fresh garlic and parmesean cheese.
Goats are small, easily handled (for the most part), and not intimidating. True, they don't give as much milk as a cow, but I've always thought the good outweighed the bad when it came to goats. Now we have a milk cow and I don't know where to start. She hasn't calved yet, but will inside a month. I've been trying to find out the best way to train her to milk and reading up. Still....
I found one site-How to train and milk a cow once a day. It's 8 pages long, but when I got to page 5, it wouldn't display anymore. Despite this, it's a very informative read. So what do all of you verteran cow milkers think? Advice wanted and needed.
And on a different note...Yes we did have chocolate cake for breakfast., healthy eating nut that I am. Today our son turns 13. He gets out of chores, gets a birthday dinner of his choice, in this case tuna casserole ;P, and for his birthday activity, will go to an auction on Wednseday with a friend.

This is our new Angora doeling. She was born last Wednesday and we named her Darcy-
Here is Babar, my daughter's Barbados Blackbelly lamb. He's a bottle baby two and a half weeks old now.
We had a bull calf born this morning. First one this calving season. Mama is red Angus and he's a little black Angus.
And, of course, Sadie. She loves having her picture taken. She's actually a donkey, but thinks she's an overgrown dog.
And here's Mercy. She's a yearling Icelandic ewe. Very friendly. I just got her in February.
Hope to have more calves and kids to post pictures of soon.

We got a phone call last week from some friends who had a lamb that had a mother who wouldn't take him. He was the smallest lamb I have ever seen. Smaller than our cat. I wasn't going to take him, knowing the work involved and figuring he never got any colustrum to start. Well our youngest has a birthday on Monday, and she said that this would be her present. So for ten days, we've doctored this guy through scours and constipation, sniffles and a bum leg. So here's a pic, not of him, but he does look like this:
He's a Barbados Blackbelly Sheep.
And here's what he'll look like when he grows up:
Nice looking pet? He's adorable now, though.
Off to enjoy the sunshine.
