I still haven't determined the identity of this plant:
It has ugly white and green flowers now. I've looked through my books and on line and can't find anything that looks quite like it. It has five basal leaves with smooth edges. The stem is hairy and hollow. It may be a type of plantain as Brenda suggested.
This isn't a real clear picture of the flowers, but maybe it's enough to help someone identify it. It likes water.
I'll try posting this to other sites I belong to and see if anyone can solve this mystery.

Speaking of Plants
Look at these---
Aren't they beautiful? They're the tea plants that I ordered from Burnt Ridge Nursery .
They are bigger and healthier than I had imagined-and reasonably priced. One is for my mom and the other????well, I just may keep it myself. I'll let you know how the tea tastes. :))

Name That Plant
While checking our fields, I came across this plant.
I checked on it yesterday and the stem has grown so that the head of it is about 18 inches tall. I've never seen it growing around here before, unless it looks a lot different once it blossoms. I'll keep checking on it until it blooms and then try and figure out what it is.
If anyone knows the identity of this plant, leave me a comment and let me know. I'll send a bar of Glory Farm goat's milk soap to the first person to identify it correctly.
We are in the middle of monsoon season here. The rain just keeps coming. I guess it's making up for all of the snow we didn't get this winter. Just about everything is water logged.
This is just a picture of the wild load of firewood my honey brought home yesterday.

The road heading out to the pasture.
The livestock trailer in the puddles.
The little creek in the pasture has abandoned it's banks. Can cattle swim?
They don't seem to mind the rain. It just means more green grass for them.
Have a blessed, dry day.

Friday
The mosquitoes have hatched! They attacked when I went out this morning. I guess it's inevitable.
This is a busy time of year for us. Seeding fields, putting in the garden, cleaning the yard etc. The cows busted through again, into the goat pasture. What a mess. They've demolished the fencing and so I have another job today. I tend to get a bit upset with those cows sometimes.
We spent the day at the Mall of America yesterday. It was a long day, but I think the kids had a good time. Their ochestra played in one of the entertainment courts. I'll post pictures later.
So there's the Reader's Digest version of what's going on around here. Today I hope to be out in the garden ALL day-after I get the fencing done. :)
Oh-it hit 101 degrees when we were in the Cities yesterday!!!I thought my thermometer had broke! Unreal.
Well-Hi Ho, Hi Ho...
Have a blessed day.

Today...
I did get carrots, lettuce and spinach planted. Half the herb beds are weeded. The lawnmower still needs an oil change and I don't have any oil so that's on hold. I weeded the rasberries and the asparagus. They sure got weedy quickly. I took some pictures for your viewing pleasure-
The plum bush in blossom.
The spruce are growing cones. Aren't they a beautiful color?
This poor misguided little plant. Strawberries are starting to bloom already.
There are asparagus spears-look real close. Soon we'll have fresh asparagus!
Time for a shower and off to get the kids to Youth Group.
Blessings.

This is the Day
After some awesome storms last night, the sun is out and the temps are warm.
Today I'm going to dedicate to my gardens.
Today the lettuce, spinach and Swiss chard will get planted.
Today the herb beds will all be renewed.
Today the lawnmower will get a once over and perhaps even a workout.
Today I will try out my new handy dandy seed planter.
Today I will remember that I am blessed in all things.
Today...Lord willing.
