Barn Cleaning and Ice Fishing

Ever ask yourself "Was that me?"  I had one of those moments a couple of days ago.  My dd who is 15 ,going on 30, asked if her "friend" could come over so we could get to know him better.   She has been friends with him for a couple of years now and he would like to be able to spend more time with her.  So he said he was able to come over last night.  Dd started cleaning, wanting to make a good impression on him, as he has never been to our home before.  What was my reaction?  I took off for the barn and started sweeping out the alleyway and trying to clean the vacant stalls.  I knew she would take him to meet all of our critters and didn't want him to see the barn so disorganized.  What has happened to me?    Does that seem like a rather strange reaction to you?

Today, my honey has taken the two youngers ice fishing.  I'm hoping to fry fish tonight, but I have the emergency chicken going in the pot, just in case.  My 9 year old said that she couldn't guarantee fish.  I hope they're having fun.  I'm wasting my alone time, just blogging and cooking.

As the weather is warming up, I think I'll try to get my seed order out this week, before we hit the deep freeze again and I change my mind.

Stay warm, stay close to the Lord.

Ho Hum....Yawn.....

There are times when it seems as though there is truly nothing to write about.  The days roll one into another and seem no different from each other.  I have not aquired any new knowledge, or tried any new project.

The weather is the same as it always is this time of year.  Cold.  We have -24 this morning with a wind chill of -38.  The animals are coping, though I think the two young does could use sweaters.

Sitting here, coffee in hand, the house cracking from the cold.  The noise startles me.  Drafts in the house are much more obvious when it gets this cold.  Helps pinpoint where they're coming from.  I thank the Lord continually for our new wood furnace.  The blower is going 24/7 in this weather.   It should save us almost $2000 in fuel costs this year.  We have plenty of our own wood here.  Our propane still works as a backup.

Chores get done a little later in this cold.  We don't go out until almost 10.  But it seems no matter how cold it is, we still stay plenty warm working out there.  There's always so much to do.

My honey is working out of state and he has warm temps.  He's been offered a job there and he doesn't think it's what the Lord wants.  At least he knows its not what he wants.  Here we have beautiful land, wonderful water and a start at rebuilding this farm.  There we wouldn't be able to farm.  I guess I need to be willing to do whatever I'm suppsed to do, even if it means moving.  I'm not there yet.

Time for devotions with the children.  Perhaps next time, I'll have something new to share with you.
